Our very own Founder and Managing Director, Alicia Marie has been tapped as a delegate of the U.S. Department of State’s Global Entrepreneurship Program’s Entrepreneurship Delegation to Greece!
In partnership with Greece, the U.S. Department of State’s Global Entrepreneurship Program (GEP), and the U.S. Embassy in Athens will lead an Entrepreneurship Delegation to Greece on April 28-30th, 2014. The delegation will be led by GEP Director Caron De Mars, of the State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs. As Greece takes on the EU Presidency and faces unemployment challenges, the U.S. government would like to take concrete steps to encourage further entrepreneurship and economic growth of our important European ally.
The U.S. Department of State has asked 11 prominent U.S. investors and role-model entrepreneurs to meet with senior Greek officials and the Greek private sector to discuss the key entrepreneurial opportunities and challenges for Greece. It will also meet one-on-one and with groups of local entrepreneurs to promote their participation in key areas of entrepreneurship development, learn about their businesses, and establish lasting connections. These connections can add to the supply chain to benefit both U.S. and Greek businesses.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to be involved and potentially impact an entrepreneur in Greece on an individual level,” remarked Alicia. “People Biz is a learning organization that works around the country to support entrepreneurs and businesses providing all types of personal and professional development programs. All of our clients are indirectly or directly impacted by the global economy.”
Alicia is the first Austin resident to represent the United States on behalf of the U.S. Department of State to share America’s spirit of entrepreneurship abroad since the Global Entrepreneurship Program’s launch in 2010.
