Leading Change is a leadership development program based on the principles of Emotional Intelligence. The program is centered around the idea that leadership is a mental and emotional state, a way of being. This course supports participants in their transformation to becoming a leader, and teaches participants how to deliberately access and shift into a state of leadership. There are 4 components and 16 traits of Emotional Intelligence. The components are Understanding Self, Managing Self, Understanding Others and Managing Others.
Emotional Intelligence is the ability to experience emotions and still act from personal vision, values and commitment. In this program, participants learn what emotion is, and more importantly, what it isn’t. This knowledge helps participants learn how to separate their emotional experience from the stories they tell about the experience. With each session, participants have the opportunity to explore what is possible in their relationships, in their careers, and in their lives, given this new framework.
When the idea of emotional intelligence first came on the scene, you could find and attend quick one-to-two day training programs purported to help you grow your emotional intelligence. These programs failed, because Emotional Intelligence can only be developed over time, supported through dialogue and integrated through real world practice.
12 participants per group
The course consists of 18 one-hour group sessions via phone over a 6 month period. We have found that this model is more effective than trying to get everyone in one location at one time, plus the 6 month period allows for integrating principals into real world practice. This delivery model easily fits into busy corporate schedules. Sessions are recorded in case of absence. Exercises given in between sessions take about two hours per month. Each participant will receive 4 individual coaching sessions to support goal setting, identifying their personal growth opportunity from Emotional Intelligence Survey, and developing a project that supports positive change. Participants invest approximately 35 hours to complete the program.
