The Big Unveiling: Words from a Client

“This is a time of profound change. Do you feel it?

The upheaval, the angst. The metamorphosis, the healing. Pain. Relief. Agony. Ecstasy. There are always two ways to tell any story, sometimes in diametrically opposed ways. There is always balance in the plan, but at times – especially in difficult times – we must be willing to be vulnerable and receptive to actually see this balance.

The most important thing you can do is to decide:  How are you going to tell your story?

Are you going to CHOOSE to be the victim? One who is at the mercy of others’ opinions and actions and rules (even when you know it’s not right for you)? One who is a mere observer in your own life, letting others shape it for you, so you just drift along doing what you “should” be doing (because that is just easier than rowing like crazy to chart your own course)?

Or are you willing to accept responsibility that you have the power to DECIDE how to react, to take control of your thoughts and actions, to take matters into your own hands, to shift the tides towards the positive?

I’m choosing to do the latter. Again. And I want to invite you to come along for the ride.

I’m sick and tired of you being sick and tired and thinking it’s the inevitable way to be if you’re also going to get through your to-do list, be successful at work, grow your business, be acc epted and loved, be worthy.

You’re WRONG!

Was that clear enough?

Let me take the veil off a bit more…

  • Your way of working is no longer working.
  • Your definition of success is no longer ringing true to you.
  • Your body and mind are not aligned and you know this deeply but are too busy, too oblivious, too confused, or terrified to really want to listen to that deeper self and figure out why.
  • And your spirit won’t let you ignore it any more, even if  your head and body are doing their best to do just that. It seeps out through physical pain. It gives you wild dreams (when you can sleep), it haunts you so that you do everything you can to avoid quiet moments to avoid the haunting.

Something is off. Way off.

You feel ashamed: “She looks like she has it all together – why can’t I?”

You feel isolated, like you’re the only one.

Let me be the first to tell you:  you’re not the only one.

I used to be that person: workaholic, overachiever, perfectionist, running on fumes. Until my body laid down the law and said NO MORE. Because for years I didn’t listen to the subtle signals it tried to send me. Oh no, not me. I had things to do, places to be, people to please.

Headaches, whatever. IBS? Not even a “real” diagnosis. Chronic bronchitis? Who didn’t get that… every 3 months? Pneumonia? Okay, but I got over it. Three times. Asthma? Yeah, but what could I do? Weird fevers with no other symptoms. Major 3pm slumps. Bone-tired but buzzing on caffeine and sugar: easy peasy, been there, done that, whatever would let me keep going…

Forget about work-life balance. It was all work, no balance. Self-care, I scoffed at you. No time. Sure, I had fun: the whole “work hard, play hard” mentality. Yeah, been there too.

And then the unthinkable happened. My body betrayed me. I lost the use of a lot of my mind – my one anchor all my life. My career came crashing down. I faced a big blank of a future, a paralyzing fear, and an all-consuming pain I didn’t know was allowed by the universe to exist. My life – what was left of it – was spiraling out of control. All at the ripe old age of 32.

And the dozens of responses I got in my recent Deliciously Curious questionnaire told me the same things I hear from you:  you want more. More balance. More energy. More meaning and purpose. More happiness. You’re in good company. And you know what? You CAN have it all.

Today, I’ve crossed to the other side. So have most of my clients.
{Some are not ready to go all the way. Not yet. They have their reasons.}

To the promised land of work I love, to a body that is strong, pain-free, at peace with itself, and able to inhale life and exhale more enthusiasm for the next thing, come what may.

I feel sexy, like the woman I was always meant to be.

I – not anyone else – defines my success: what it is, what it looks like, how it feels.

I feel truly, deeply, profoundly satisfied.

I enjoy a full life that feeds me and fills me up rather than depletes me. I love, I laugh, I bite into juicy peaches off our tree, and work is no longer a 4-letter word.

Sometimes I’m sad or choose to cocoon a bit, but even in that there is a richness and promise that I welcome.

My body is the healthiest it’s ever been, and has me bouncing out of bed in the mornings with energy, lets me work, create, dream, and manifest like I mean it, and reminds me to play and rest to refill and so goes my more natural cycle.

Isn’t it time to make sure YOU don’t crash and burn? Or simply fizzle out?

Or if you’re already smoldering, to extinguish the destructive habits and forces in your life and take your life back into your own hands to mold it into what you really crave?

Isn’t it time to stop wishing and make it real?

That’s all I want for you.

Well, that’s not entirely true. I actually want more. A lot more.

My hidden agenda is for YOU to internalize this truth, this shift, this possibility… make it real for yourself… and then begin influencing others around you. Spread the truth. Shed the light on a new way of working, of living, of being.

That it doesn’t have to be this way. It doesn’t work anymore. Not for me, not for you, not for corporate America, not for the world.

Maybe it never really did.

There is a better way.

Ready for the first step? Then peek here.”
